St Mary's is an institution with a long-standing tradition of promoting the Gospel’s values of love, compassion, and respect for our fellows. A strong faith through the love of learning We at St Mary's Catholic Primary School in Brent, UK have gathered a team of faithful, dedicated professionals with many years of experience in our and other Catholic educational institutions under their belts. Our tutors and staff know about the love of learning firsthand and they have made it their mission to instill the values of being a life-long learner in the kids who are under their tutelage. One of the ways we do that is by stimulating the children enrolled in our classes with a rich, varied, carefully crafted curriculum that simultaneously gives them the education they need to become valuable members of our Christian society, while at the same time giving them a thirst for knowledge that will serve them well throughout their whole lives. At St Mary's Catholic Primary School in Brent, UK we are all one large family. As is expected from a truly loving family, we want only the best for everyone in it. That is why in addition to giving the children in our school access to the highest quality of education, we do our best to make sure they are happy, well-rounded individuals who are ready to have the challenges of our ever-changing, diverse multicultural world. Love, respect, and compassion are our core values, and we do whatever is necessary to make sure they become our pupils’ as well.

Moving to Brent? Here are Some Things You’ll Want to Know About the Area

Located in North-West London, Brent is a popular hotspot for all kinds of people. The area is very diverse, and there are plenty of amenities and facilities. In recent years, this London borough has undergone some positive developments and there are many more in the pipeline. The council started them in an effort to improve some of the most deprived areas of the borough and attract more people to the area. So far, the plan seems to be working.

There are many reasons you might want to move to Brent. The transport links are excellent, there are some very good schools, it’s a culturally diverse area, and there are some striking attractions, one of which is Wembley stadium.

Before you think about booking your removals company, let’s look at some of the top features of the area.

Transport

Brent is a popular area for professionals who commute to the city centre. This is due to the fact that the transport links are excellent. The Jubilee, Piccadilly, Bakerloo, and Metropolitan lines are all within its boundaries and the overground services are equally good for anyone wanting to travel to the outer edges of the capital.

If you work much further afield, travelling using public transport is still not an issue because Chiltern Rail serves several points and transports people as far as Birmingham and Oxford.

For those of you who’d rather sit behind the wheel, the North Circular road circumvents the borough and connects with the M1 for the north and the M4 for the southwest.

Lifestyle

Whether you want to dine out, shop, watch football, listen to live music, or enjoy the fresh air, Brent has lots going on for all ages and tastes. It was crowned the Mayor’s London Borough of Culture 2020 so it’s recently earned a place in the spotlight for people visiting the area. Here are a few suggestions of things you can do:

Schools and Education

If you’ve children of primary-school age in your family, you’ll be pleased to learn that schools in Brent are slightly better than the UK average. There are several to choose from including St Mary Primary School, Robert Southwell Primary School, Wykeham Primary School, and St Joseph’s Roman Catholic Primary School.

There’s also a good selection of secondary schools including JFS and Claremont High School in the state sector and the The Swaminarayan School in the independent sector.

Shopping

Should you find yourself in need of some retail therapy the borough has a wide variety of shopping areas from which to choose. The London Designer Outlet, for example, is home to 70 designer outlets and stores including Gap, Levi’s, and Adidas. Also within the shopping complex is a large Cineworld cinema and several restaurants.

For furniture and homeware purchases there’s a large IKEA store and the Brent Cross Shopping Centre.

If you prefer the open-air high street shopping experience, you’re better off heading for Queen’s Park where you’ll find a wide range of boutique stores and cafes when you need to take a rest from shopping.

There are several fresh fruit and vegetable outlets around the borough including Wembley’s Fruity Fresh and a regular Farmer’s Market held every Sunday in Queen’s Park.

Health and Sport

There’s a good range of health and sports facilities in the borough of Brent. Alongside some major gym chains such as The Gym, PureGym, and Nuffield Health there’s a good selection of outdoor sports facilities available.

There are 14 outdoor gyms spread across the area, all of which are run by the council. They are open 7 days a week and hold regular instructor-led gym sessions that are free to attend.

Culture

Brent doesn’t abound with cultural opportunities, although we mustn’t forget to mention that Wembley Stadium is located here.

There’s also the Lexi Cinema, which is run by volunteers and shows a good selection of indie films and the Tricycle Theatre where you can regularly see a selection of musical, comedy, and dramatic productions.

Green Spaces

When it comes to green spaces, there’s not as much as you think, but what there is is definitely worthy of a visit. The council has worked very hard to try to make up for the lack of green spaces by outlining several walking routes and installing outdoor gyms.

Travel just north of Brent and you’ll find yourself in a slightly less urban area of Fryent Country Park. It's the largest green space in the area and covers 103 hectares. There are some woodland areas in this designated nature reserve and many locals, including conservation groups, gather here to relax and take in the scenery.

Housing

It is expected that the local population will grow to more than 400,000 over the next couple of decades and there are currently a number of houses being built in the area. Certain areas of Brent are part of a new initiative to bring accelerated housing development to the area.

30 housing zones, across London, of which Brent has two, can now access £600 million in funding for the construction of 75,000 houses. In Alperton, Brent there will be 3213 houses built. While in Wembley, there are plans for 2840 new homes and 1121 affordable homes. As well as building new houses, the programme will also provide 150,000 associated jobs over the course of a decade.

If you think you’d like to move to the area, there are several local moving firms to choose from. Pick one that’s a member of the British Association of Removers  and you’re more likely to get a reputable and reliable removals service

There’s a lot to be said for moving to Brent, especially if you’re a family. It’s close enough to the city for there to be lots of job opportunities, but also far enough away to feel like it’s a part of the countryside.
